"Vehement romantic frantic for forever right now, but forever's going nowhere tonight."
"What doesn't bend breaks, what doesn't bend. . .breaks."
"I was hoping you'd join me, 'cause I ain't got no money/And I really miss you, I should mention that too."
"I know there is strength in the differences between us and I know there is comfort where we overlap."

You see, I never noticed I had stains
until he asked for a discount
So, I almost missed out on
Loving you. Who said
"Perfection’s imitation, that’s why it’s called a deal,
See, real things have scratches and
I’m looking for real."
You paid full price, never asked for change til I gave it,
You said "baby, save it. You’ll need it for something harder than me
You said "I’m easy, I think scars are sexy."
And most times you make sense of things I think are crazy
And that’s not why I love you
But it helps.

That's today, for some reason.

Album: Growing Pains
Title: “Having Trouble With The Language” (Billie Myers/Peter Vale)
(Not complete lyrics--the ones stuck in my head)

Picture postcard honesty
In the land of hopeless dreams
That man in my sitting room
Only lives behind the screen

Oh, look at me happily
In this third party situation
A married man with a see through smile
Who's not quite what he seems

Oh, I'm having trouble with the language
Having trouble getting through
Haven't learned my lessons well
So I don't know what to do

Andre's such a sycophant
Who always leaves the truth behind
Always stands on the outside
No matter how hard she tries
It's been a while, the ready smile
I've got to go, Oh look at the time
If only she knew, what the restless do
She would surely break down and cry

Downtown at the funeral home
There's a dark cloud over our heads
She looked better in a black suit
But he looked better... dead

If you don't like your situation, then change it. If you can't change it, then leave it. It's your fucking life, man.
--The Ballad of Jack and Rose

I wish I could tattoo this on my body, so I never forget.

"Shooting Star"--Bob Dylan
Seen a shooting star tonight
And I thought of you.
You were trying to break into another world
A world I never knew.
I always kind of wondered
If you ever made it through.
Seen a shooting star tonight
And I thought of you.

Seen a shooting star tonight
And I thought of me.
If I was still the same
If I ever became what you wanted me to be
Did I miss the mark or
Over-step the line
That only you could see?
Seen a shooting star tonight
And I thought of me.

Listen to the engine, listen to the bell
As the last fire truck from hell
Goes rolling by, all good people are praying,
It's the last temptation
The last account
The last time you might hear the sermon on the mount,
The last radio is playing.

Seen a shooting star tonight
Slip Away.
Tomorrow will be another day.
Guess it's too late to say the things to you
That you needed to hear me say.
Seen a shooting star tonight
Slip away

Yeah. And I just read Galloway's away message. I'm going to cry. "If you would comfort me, sing me a lullaby. If you would win my heart, sing me a love song. If you would mourn me and bring me to God, sing me a requiem, sing me to heaven." From one of the most moving songs H-G Young Men's & Young Women's ever did.
I need to put on something happy and go do my list.

And no, this wasn't my show. So what. From Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along:
We'll worry about it on Sunday!

We're opening doors, singing, "Here we are!"
We're filling up days on a dime.
That faraway shore's looking not too far.
We're following every star —
There's not enough time!

We're banging on doors, shouting, "Here again!"
We're risking it all on a dime.
That faraway shore's looking near again,
The only thing left is when,
We know we should count to ten —
We haven't got time!
We haven't got time!

Five hour panic attacks: bad. Friends: Good. Liz coming over today: Better. The rapid approach of a cheese fondue dinner and large doses of snuggling with my beloved Baroons: Best.

"Her hair bears silent witness to the passing of time, tattoos like mile markers map the distance she has come, winning some, losing some."
Yeah, pretty much.

From last semester's Miss Congeniality Montpellier (I'm calling her that because I think she's adorable.):
"You are, decidedly, my lesbian mirror twin."

Plan for today. Breakfast, shower, dishes, bed, grammar, haircut, photocopies, bank, cell phone minutes, a call to my grandmother and a VIP call.
Yay VIP calls.*

"Somehow, a door has closed behind me, and now you can find me someplace I've never been."
"[. . .] I've got to let it go, and bring about tomorrow with just a silent prayer for yesterday."

*Think you're the VIP? Comment here. You probably aren't, but I'll add you to the list.

Sorry for co-opting a rugby song, but it fits the tone.
I am a bad student and nothing makes me wanna be a good one right now.
Sometimes I wish I were a praise whore. It might help.

History by itself is stupid. It needs context and shading and depth, at least for me.
And I hate religion.

"Someone tell her, someone get her up!"
"Left foot, right foot, just the way we showed you."

It's late, I should make the choice to sleep or be brilliant.
A shot of Baileys would be nice.
